Yup! just work out where the best place to have the amp is, for the convenience of cable runs + power for the amp.

+1

Recently did a bit of DIY to sort this at home. Quite easy to slot in a signal booster/amplifier on the way down, make a BIG difference to freeview.

The antenna is on the roof on a two storey flat(im the ground floor) so the closest im going to get teh amplifier to it is as soon as it enters my house behind my tv in the living room! :-)Will this be ok?

Search for Mast Head Amplifier. It is an amp that sits at the top of your roof, by the aerial, but take power from one of the aerial leads coming in. The power pack plugs into a socket in your room (ie near your TV) and send power up to the amp as well as taking signal down to the TV.

I split mine 4 ways using this bit of kit, and it is ace. I think it cost me about £30 from what I remember.

Obviously access to the aerial helps, but you could mount it further away (ie lower) if need by, but it wouldn't work quite as well then.

If you are happy with the signal supplying your TV, then it will be OK to have the amp near to the TV.

It will be fine behind the TV. Get a decent 4 way amp (they don't do a 3 way) such as an Antiference A240L Pro and don't forget these amps use F connectors (not coax plugs) so get 4 twist on F connectors. It will improve the signal at your existing TV too.
