how do i hook up sky+ to this amp?

Just heard my TV/Amp ordered from Digital Direct on Wednesday (and who i heard lots of bad reports about with delivery times) is coming tommorow!!!!!


Anyway.....i still have sky+ as i havent decided on Sky HD or something else....so how do i hook up sky + (which uses a scart) to this amp????

My other gear is all HDMI so thats fine.

I suspect that this receiver just switches video inputs, rather than convert them to HDMI, so I would:-

1) Connect the Sky+ box video Scart to the TV
2) Connect the Sky+ OPtical Out to the Optical Input AV1 on the Receiver

Configure the Sky+ box for 5.1 on the optical output, and set up the AV Receiver accordingly.

The sound will be switched via the AV remote and for the time being you will need to change the input on the TV.

Once you have a SkyHD box all will be solved!

The Yamaha amp has a internal scaler so buy a svideo cable to plug into the back of the yamaha amp and use the optical for the sound, then set up the amp to have video conversion on. Your Sky+ picture will then be upscaled to 1080p

nice idea but the amp dosent hav any s-video inputs, only composite or component.

Can I do something similar? I have an onkyo 607 amp 42"V10 panny.. sky HD box. Because the SD pic quality is pants on the sky box through HDMI I am using a good quality scart via RGB in sky box to TV.

ok...HD box is here and i'm stuck!

I cant seem to find a way to tell it to use the HDMI input from sky for video and the optical for sound....what do i do!


Solved it - seems Yam have an update that will let me use HDMI for video and optical for sound
