Ok, for the last couple of years, since moving back home, i've had a whopping 42" rear projection tv in my bedroom (hehe) but only a cheapo 'Alba' Freeveiw box.

This box seems to not like me using my mobile if its switched on, and throws an absolute strop.. This gets very annoying when trying to watch F1 or Football..

Would a more expensive Freeview box sort this? I recently went to Vomit and bought one of the more expensive 'Freeview antenna' to try, but no better.

Can anyone explain the concept of Freesat too? I think i would be looking to spend upto £100, and would prefer Twin tuners and a recording/Hard drive facility.

Thanks.

If your using a set top antenna (even if it says digital compatable on the box)then that is more than likely your problem, id upgrade to a propper roof mounted aerial first. Freesat will require a different set top box and works from a sat dish instead of an aerial.

We have Sky downstairs, would i be able to run it from the same dish?

My reception is alright, i think its the box at fault. Will try upload a small clip to youtube this evening to demonstrate the problem.

On the PVR Freeview front the Humax 9150 from Humaxdirect.co.uk should be in that price bracket. Certainly the best around at that price. If your TV has HDMI then the 9350 is the one but it will cost a bit more.

Freesat needs a Satellite dish and the Humax PVR is over £250, although there is a deal online at £244.

Yes you could however you would very likely need to upgrade the LNB to a quad output. Each Sky box needs it's own feed, two feeds if your using Sky+ or HD.

Are these worth the money? I'm shortly moving to a house with a Sky dish but don't want Sky, but do want to record TV.

Humax PVR is a great bit of kit. Also dont forget you get a smattering of HD content FOC eg chan 108

Black panther is a little above what i'm willing to pay.

Would a better box get rid of the glitch interference from my mobile? I seem to have found some receptions tonight, although its not perfect i dont have to retune everytime i change the channel.

Don't be fooled by good reception on the Analogue channels of your TV. Unless you live in a "switched over" part of the UK the Signal for Digital TV is about a fifth (at best) that of the Analogue channel signals. If you are using an Indoor "portable" aerial you will not get a good signal until switchover so even a Humax or Topfield will not pull good reception especially on the "Weaker" signals.
