It's quite difficult to diagnose at a distance, but it could be one of the following:

You've gone blind
Look for other symptoms, for example can you find your car in the usual manner, or do you have to feel your way to the door?

The TV is turned off
does the sound come through something else, like your hifi for example?

The TV is broken
Does it work without the sky box?

The scart lead is only partly pushed in?
The serious answer ... Ive had problems in the past with a partially inserted Scart lead, pushing it in firmly helped a bit. I'd also suggest trying with another TV (if you have one, a portable perhaps) to see if it's a common problem. Final suggestion, try another Scart lead?

Good one peeps, I have actually just plugged it back in after not using it for maybe 18 months and like I said all I can get is sound. Would it have anything to do with the card?.

Sky have just sent me new card in order to continue to receive programs, however I don't have a card in it in the moment. Maybe that is the problem, im not going to put my card in unless I lose the picture.

Actully don't you need a subsciption to receive programs? Do you have a subscription?

All I am after is the freeview as my signal from the roof is rubbish. I have never received any new card.

do you get anything at all from your sky box or just a black screen? If its just a black screen then the most likely culprit is the scart lead they do have a habbit of coming loose just by farting near them, there is also the possibility that you have pushed in one of the pins when plugging it back in, pull the scart out and have a look, its usually quite obvious if one is pushed in.

I have now tried a new scart lead and still no picture and only sound. Everything works except the picture. Does this sound like the box is nacked?.

Box could be set to RGB output and the lead plugged into a composite only SCART socket.

Try a different SCART socket or use another television to adjust the settings.

What does that mean mate. The tv is a Panasonic plasma around 3 years old and the box used to work with it.

I don't think you can receive freeview though a sky box without having a subscription to sky. Might be worth checking with them.

You can get Freeview through Sky sans subscription but it does require a "freeview" viewing card to be inserted in the box (or a Sky card that is not longer in subscription).

Er, is the TV on the right channel to receive the Sky signal? Only asking because I have just lent my sisters boyfriend a spare TV as his has gone t*ts-up. I was trying to tune it in on the AV channel of the TV and only had the sound. Finally sussed that the Sky was coming through on channel 5 of the TV.

If your using a scart then the channel the TV is set to is irrelevant, it should be set to AV 1/2/3 depending on which input you are using. If you are using an aerial RF connection then you need to tune the TV to the skybox. You need to set the TV to analogue not DVB.

Also you cannot get Freeview through Sky, just free to air channels.

confused Not true with me. If I remove my viewing card from my "Freesat equivalent" Sky box then I lose BBC etc. When I say "Freesat equivalent" this is a Sky box and card that used to have a subscription but now doesn't. Sky "Downgraded" the card so I get a Freesat-like service via my Sky box (no subscription fee etc).

"Freeview" is a brand name for the DTT (digital terrestrial television) service in the UK.
"Freesat from Sky" is the Sky branded "a bit like freeview service"
"Freesat" is a "bit like freeview" service using satellite broadcast technology.
