Has anyone got any recommendations for a portable docking station I can take on holiday with me? No worries about price I just want a good sound without it sounding like I'm listening to it from inside a tin box.

Cheers

Go for the BOSE [ Wait for it] Portable dock. Charges and plays your iphone plus has an Aux in so can be used as a PC speaker. Available in black or white!

I quite like the look of this one http://www.bowers-wilkins.com/display.aspx?infid=2...

I've briefly heard them in shops and they sound good.

thats the one i have very good quality but not at all portable, as in very heavy, woulnt want to get a mark on it and can only run through mains power.

very good quality a far as an ipod dock goes though.

I have an igroove HG and it's ace. Far better (imo)than the Bose when I listened to them side by side. It has both an Ipod connection and a 3.5mm jack point to hook other stuff up with.

The new Bose dock with the battery feature is by far the best 'portable' option. For use at home however, the B&W Zeplin sounds better.

i agree with above (plus one) the klipsch sounds better IMO than the bose and is cheaper to boot. as for the comment that some sound a bit crap then it is also my opinion that even the B and W option is not true HiFi by any stretch (i own one). if you truly want a HiFi spec ipod dock look into the arcam mini hifi system around £600 plus about £200 for some B and W 301 speakers, does not take up much more space than the zep, is far better quality but double the price again and doesnt look as pretty. mine is just for the gym and then have the arcam set up for sun room , i know double the price but dont want people buying the zep expecting a perfect sound

No one mentioned the Logitech Anywhere 2 yet?. Genuinely portable- with batteries, a carry case and sensible weight & size, good build quality, decent looking and a decent sound for it's size (according to the reviews) http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/reviews/entry/log... You can pick them up for about £75.

did go off on a tangent I suppose answering another question but I stand by the klipsch for a portable solution as small as the Bose cheaper than the Bose can run on batteries plus in my opinion better than the Bose

That is exactly why I went to try them in Comet or whatever the store was.

I too heard good things about ^^^

It was poor. No Volume, no depth.
Yes it will 'Play' your music, but you won't thank it for the sound. Sorry, next to the (admittedly much more expensive) Bose, it was nothing.

Anyway, if you can afford and Iphone, you can afford a Bose nuts
That's a shame - I was on the verge of buying one a while ago on the back of the reviews but ended up going for the Tannoy i30 instead which has an excellent sound (for the size & price) and is reasonably portable - (as long as there's a mains supply handy as there's no batteries) and a Krell KID for non-portable iPod duties.
