DVDs quieter than CDs?
Discussion
I've found this as well, doesn't seem to be much you can do about it though, just the way it is.
I found a workround that might help: I have setup a 'CD' input on my amp as well as the DVD/Bluray one. I use both the HDMI and coax outputs. On the the amp HDMI is used on the 'DVD' input and the coax on the 'CD' input. On my amp each input can have the levels adjusted to line them up to match, I don't know if yours allows this fudge?

Early CD's will play correctly. The reason for modern CD's being so loud is due to the crap way they are mastered in an effort to make them as loud and poor quality as posibble, thereby obliterating the market for CDs and ral HiFi allowing iPODs to rule the world.
Or something similar, have a google for 'Loudness Wars' and you will find all the details you need.
