Sky+ to sky+HD

Have just rung sky to upgrade to sky HD from sky+ and they are saying it could take up to 3 months.
New HD TV is coming in a couple of weeks time, have the hdmi cables ready in the wall, but the sky+ box doesn't have a hdmi connection, or am I missing something.
Basically I need to carry on watching sky through my sky+ box until skyHD arrives, can I do this ok, what will I need.

PS Or is there a quicker way of getting skyHD installed.
