Hi can someone tell me if this is a decent LCD TV for £800 + vat ( £940)

http://www.ciao.co.uk/Sharp_LC52DH66E__7047519

It'll mainly be getting used for SkyHD and gaming on PS3.
For last 2 years ive had a 42 inch LG but fancy something bigger.

Thanks

Sharp?
No, not really - used to be, but then tried to chase Samsung for the budget end of the market, and failed miserably, hurting them big time.
Have never really recovered, unlike Sony (to a degree, who just lost the plot along the way, and are still only recovering).

What distance will you be sat from it?
What's your absolute max budget?

I'm about 3.5m away from the tv (wall Mounted)
Could probably go to 1500 but was looking for a bargain(typical scot).
I suppose you get what you pay for.
Thanks.

Then for PQ and budget, you'd ideally want to consider the 50" Panasonic Plasma V10 or G10 if you fancied saving some money.
For distance, you're not going to appreciate the extra resolution 1080P can provide, so the 50X10 at half your budget (almost) is a contender, but aside from the distance element, colour/contrast/VieraCAST are features and improvements possibly worth having, especially if you plan on keeping this one for the next 3-5 years minimum, before looking to change.

If you can stretch to £1500 the Panasonic range is in your reach. Interestingly Sharp have a new LED backlit range coming out that should see them gain some ground again. The DH66 was good at the price but at this size the extra investment is money well spent.
