Have just got a Panasonic G15 tele with load of tech that i'm only starting to scratch the surface of.

I'm trying to use it at the moment to view movie files that i've recorded with my Panasonic TZ5 compact camera

my first question to you knowlegdgeable AV types: what format do i have to convert video files to to view through the TV?

Manual seems to suggest that they need to be either 'Divx' or 'MPEG2' but the camera i'm using to record seems to produce only .mov files and the TV can't read these...

also, the TV only seems capable of reading the root directory of the SD card - so if i put the files in a folder, they are no longer visible to the TV...

any help most appreciated - even if only pointing to better forums for this kinda thing!

Thansk

I tried my SD card in my mate's Panny TV (similar model to yours) and we found that the still photos worked, but the video didn't despite it being 'filmed' on a Panny camcorder (though it is HD so maybe that's the issue). There is lots of converting software available including full blown editting software that will allow you to output the editted footage in many formats. I use Videostudio X2 (30 day free trial available) but there are others.

I found this website useful over the years for info from ripping DVDs, editting and conversion software and general video related information:

Or try the Camcorder section on AVForums:

Panasonic cameras (like my LX3) record video into Quicktime format (.mov) which is pretty much useless if you actually want to use it in any way.

I found a program called Pazera which will convert .mov to .avi, which your TV should recognise.

Needs to be recorded to the sd card in Mpeg2 or avchd format. i can take the card from the Panny sd9 camcorder, or connect it by hdmi and control the camcoder by viera link. Plays great on my 46 g10 either way
