Ive got a Dual CS-5000. I needed a drive belt and measured it as 125mm from motor spindle to platter centre.

I went to Maplins in Swindon who had to order one in after taking payment.
5 days later, i had a call to say it had arrived. I collected and took home.
On opening the two bags it was inside (both labelled as Drive belt 121mm) i found it was actually too big.

I measured it as 185mm.

Apparently, ive opened the packaging now and cant take it back.

What a load of toilet..... Thats £5 up the swanny.

Rant over. I still dont feel good mind you.....

If they supplied the wrong part, and it was not possible for you to have found it was the wrong part without opening the bag, then I'd say that was their problem not yours. They haven't supplied what you ordered, the order you paid for hasn't been completed, they need to either supply the goods or return your money.

You buy whats in the packaging NOT the packaging, if it could not be opened without breaking the packaging its their fault. I had something similar with Vauxhall a few years back, i needed a new speaker for the door, i even told them it had the enhaced audio pack anyways i go to fit the speaker and it dont fit the door, the fixing holes were in a differnt place so i took it back, got the same reply from the guy behind the counter, so called for the manager who gave me the same reply, went across the road to the sale show room and started kicking off at the dealer manager there, low and behold they took it back and ordered the correct one. If it aint what you asked for then they have to change it or refund if they cant get the right one.

PS: This is NOT the same as you changing your mind about the goods and them accepting them back if the packaging is intact etc. If they haven't delivered what you paid for then the sale has not been completed.

Maplin's Farnborough corrected me.

Apparently its the way you measure the belt ??

Anyway, i had another shorter belt thrust into my hand before being shown the door.

I will check if it fits my turntable tonight.
