Hi

I am about to buy an HD enabled TV to use with Sky
We currently have our Sky+ in a differnt room

Now I am lucky enough to have a spare room in the house which would make a superb den - the missus even agrees !!

The problem is the Sky feed is nowhere near
Its also at the other side of the house from the dish and I really really dont want the hassle of re-routing the lines
Part of the reason for this is that we are in a listed house and also in a conservation area
Getting the dish itself was a monumental hassle
There are also several other dull reasons as to why the feed couldnt just be swapped over by asking a contractor to do me a favour for 20 quid

Is there a way round this?

My knowledge of telly stuff and gadgets is 20y behind the times at best
I see many TVs are now wifi enabled and clever things like slingboxes do whatever clever stuff they do smile

Cheers!

Could you run an HDMI cable from the SkyHD box to the other room?

It'd be cheaper, better and more reliable to join onto the dish feeds and run coax's to re-site the decoder box at the new location rather than a HDMI. Long HDMI's are aggro and expensive, and you'll need a remote extender.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think you can do this i) HD doesn't use co-ax and ii) you can't just join into the dish.

If you have Sky+ at the moment, and you're getting a HDTV, will you be going to Sky+HD? I would imagine it makes a difference in what is most suitable for connection.
