Hi Guys, bought a logitech 2.1 system for my computer, speakers are not bad, but i feel the sound quality could be better from the satellite speakers. I have some small Gale bookshelf speakers but they are only 86dB and simply dont give enough volume for the sub. Does anyone Know of any 100dB bookshelf speakers? this is what the existing Logitec speakers are rated at.

Which logitech 2.1 speakers have you bought? Are you approaching the problem from the correct direction? Your Gale speakers obviously don't match the Logitech but what dB figures are you comparing? A quick search revealed the Gale figure referred to sensitivity but the Logitech was Signal To Noise Ratio.

Replacing the Gale speakers may be more expensive than replacing your new Logitech system.

they are the z-2300, i am no expert so am willing to steered, the Gales have an 86dB rating, i just looked at the Logitec manual and it said 100dB. But the Gales are just too quiet. So i have put the originals back on as they sound better than the Gales, i would like to find a speaker that can provide a wider range but play loud enough.

As flossy said, the Gales are the sensitivity rating which can't be compared to the logitechs rating pound for pound (or dB for dB). If you're powering the Gales off the logitech amp then it may be the case it is underpowered for proper bookshelf speakers.

And this could be the case even for some 100dB bookshelf speakers as their impedance may be totally different to that of the logictech ones. The lower the impedance the louder they will go, but the beefier the power supply in the amplifier needs to be.

Take the Logitec System back or put it on eBay and go and buy something that you like!!!

Just tried swapping the logitec satellites for some Sharp 2 ways that were on my surround sound in the living room, they are not actually surround speakers and they sound MUCH better than either of the other two. Realy quite nice and bright, i'd be prepared to go out and buy some more speakers, but how will you know they suit??

How much was the logitech set? Go to Richer sounds and ask them to demo a setup of similar cost.

I think i will take Sharp set in and rig them up and compare the sound in the shop. I just threw my Linn index on them just to see, and they play louder than the Gales too.

Bought some Marantz bookshelf speakers, and sound is pretty good. They are not 100dB either, its just those Gales are dull as dish water.
