Hi,

I have a panasonic plasma with one set of phono connections for audio input on the back, my pc is currently connected to this to allow sound to come out of the TV speakers.

i also have an xbox 360 and am using the Scart adapter at the moment but would like to buy a component HD cable and use that instead (I currently have a weird cable, it has the switchable HDTV/TV part of the component HD cable but only 3 phono type connections at the other end - a yellow, red and white one - I have tried connecting this without the scart adapter and I get no picture). Any idea with this as I cant seem to find any info on the type of cable I am using????/

However, thats a side issue - the main concern is I will have 2 audio inputs and only one set of connections - Is there any sort of switchable converter into which I can put 2 inputs and then connect it to the tv?

Regards,

The xbox lead you need has 6 phonos normally,

you have Red, Green and Blue bunched together and Red, White and Yellow bunched togeter.

The Red, Green and blue are your HD connection, it is refered to as component and there is a place for these to go in the back of your panasonic.

The Red, White and yellow are your composite connection & the analogue audio. Red/White are the audio out and the Yellow is composite video out.

So, when you want to connect in HD you use the RGB that are bundled together + the Red/White for audio from the other bundle and you plug these into where your PC audio is now connected.

On the later pannas there is only this 1 input for audio, it is shared between the VGA and component input

Also you can get a HDMI lead for the standard XBOX 360, this would do audio aswell as HD video all in one connector, this maybe a better option for you if you can get one.

Ive just done a quick search for the HDMI lead and it dosent seem to come up, all i know is that about 3 weeks ago i installed a XBOX360 Elite with a panna plasma. The Elite does have a HDMI connector on the console and i know the standard one does not, BUT also with the Elite came a HDMI lead that plugged into the normal AV cable socket and NOT the hdmi socket (that is obviously ment for a standard HDMI lead) so i am assuming this standard av connector to HDMI lead is available someware and that it works on a non elite xbox, make sure you do some research on it to see if it would work.

Thanks mate,

My Xbox doesn't have a HDMI connection so I think that cable would be the best solution, is their any picture quality difference between using the HDMi connection and the composite HD cables (the 6 coloured cables, I can never remember if it is called composite or component, frown).

BTW, you can get those cables from fleabay for a fiver.

i wouldnt have thought there would be a noticable difference, also make sure you set the output resolution of your xbox to match the screen.
