I'm looking at ditching my Sky + HD service as I hardly use anything that isn't on the Sky channels as 90% of what I watch is on Freesat. So what are the alternatives in terms of hardware? My (future) father in law has the Humax box and seems to have a lot of issues with it. A friend has suggested Topfield, but I've never heard of them.

Just installed a Freesat Humax PDR reviever here yesterday afternoon.

Seems to be working a treat and the EPGuide is more usable that that offered by sky - e.g. you can only see the channels you're going to get.

HD is excellent on both Beeb and ITV.

Be interesting to hear your views on it when you have it set up

Does any body know anything about these? Topfield TF7710HDPVR

If you like watching HD content then Sky is the only option, unless you spend ages downloading everything.

Virgin are launching a few HD channels this week but they are pretty poor (Ch 4, ESPN etc)

I would say that Freesat only has one HD channel as ITV HD broadcasts for around 1 hour a week and BBC HD shows the sames shows over and over!

If you want to save cash you could always do a search for EX7000 on Google.
