Dolby Pro-Logic Surround Sound.
Discussion
I have a couple of early 90's Panasonic TX-29AD2DP TV's kicking around the house & have kept them this long due to their outstanding sound quality.
I'm desperate to move forward to a HD-LCD set & Blueray but I've been told that surround sound systems only work via a player (CD/DVD/Bluray etc) & not directly from a digi-box/satelite.
Is this true or have I been told a few porkies by shop sales assistants?
The whole 'surround sound' thing has put me off for longer than I care to remember, the Pro-Logic Surround sound from the old Panasonic TX's is outstanding & works via everything, including analogue signals received via the set.
I'd be gratefull if someone could advise on a suitable set-up that would give me surround sound directly from a Sky satelite receiver as well as a player.

SD feeds, on certain content, are broadcast with matrix audio (pro-logic), this is passed to a suitable decoder either by red/white RCA or via optical out of a standard Sky+ box.
On the SkyHD box there is again an optical output as some content in HD is carried with Dolby Digital (AC3) which is a step up from pro-logic and requires a digital connection.
