Anyone got a Ortofon Moving magnet cartridge that will fit a Dual CS-5000 turntable ?

I wonder if anyone has one of these lying around and would wish to sell it.

Alternatively can anyone recommend a cart for this turntable that doesn't break the bank?

what sort of ortofon? i may have an OM5e lying around you could have, but this is their cheapest model and a bit crap, i took it off pro-ject table.

for price/quality i would recommend a shure m97xe, a continuation of their highly regarded v15 series

rrp is £100, but look online and you can get them from the US for $50 + P&P

Shirt - thanks for the reply.

I got the turntable for free and its my first expereince of turntables.

If the Ortofon you have is still working and compatible with the Dual - i would gladly take it off your hands for some beer money.

Spending £50 - £100 on a cartridge when i have no experience of turntables, and a small box room to put all my hi-fi gear in is probably not wise.

Your Ortofon might be a good enough start for me...

no worries. i'll have a look for it tonight. when i was burgled they broke the turntable it was mounted on, snapped the tonearm etc., so you can have the headshell as well if its there. no need for beer tokens, i doubt i'd ever use it again.

will take a look and let you know.

Or have a look online. The Audio Technica AT-91 is about £18 and the Goldring Elan just under £20.

Shirt - great thanks. Let me know if you find it.

Telecat - thanks for the link - that looks good and starts at a acceptable price range.

If Shirt cant find his MMC, then i will invest using your suggested website.

Cheers All,
