We moved into a new build at weekend, and I finally got round to putting an aerial in the loft while we wait for Sky to get installed.

Except it doesn't work, no matter which way I point it.

Its not a huge aerial by any means, but right next to the house we've got a half-built block of apartments that happen to be between us and the transmitter (at Hannington). Would this be causing the total lack of signal?

I could mount the aerial as far "back" as possible in the house, and at the far end of the loft from the apartments, basically taking them as much "out of sight" as possible - would that make much of a difference?

I found loft aerials rarely work, it really needs to be outside to get a good signal.

I moved an aerial outside and the digital TV strength went from 20% to 100%

Thats a pain, but half expected.

Its going to be impractical to get the aerial fitted outside at the moment, although with the cock-ups that Sky have made so far, it may have to be done.
