I have just had Sky + fitted, how do I connect a second TV and get it working?

Before they fitted the new system the TV upstairs worked fine with a magic eye fitted…

Now I can’t get the remote to work the TV upstairs.

Any idea guys?

Do you have to enable the system to recognize a second TV? I have the upstairs TV connected to the SKY box… it just don’t work

Cable into the RF2 port

Then hit Services, 4, 0, 1, Enter

RF Outlets

RF Outlet Power (or similar) ensure that is on.

Installer should have done it really.

If its a HD box I'm not sure if the standard remotes control them over a magic eye. They certainly dont through the front panel as the instruction set is different.

Press the keys (Services, 4, 0, 1, Select) anyway - even if you think nothing is happening, it will wink

Its not a silly question, I am a techno numpty!

I assumed as the TV was working it and I was viewing a sky channel that was OK?

Can you explain in simple terms what I need to do…?

Thanks for all the help so far!

Which RF port is the cable plugged into? Only RF2 is powered for the magic eye.

Second: has anything changed in terms of the cable run up to the second TV? The magic eyes are quite sensitive to the cable having kinks in it / turning corners too tightly.

Go back to the installer menu on the Sky box (Services > 4 > 0 > 1 > Select), go to RF Outlets and confirm the RF channel number and check that the RF Power Supply is set to ON.

If the RF channel on the Sky box is set to 38 (say), then whichever channel on the TV you want to watch Sky will need to be tuned to channel 38 (ie the same as the Sky box).

You need to do this if you cannot see a picture on the other TV. If you can see a picture but the eye doesn't work, you don't need to fiddle with the RF Channel settings.

Absolutely.

I was assuming [probably incorrectly] that the upstairs TV was not showing a picture..

Worth unscrewing the RF plugs at either end and checking there is no stray braiding from the coax that is making a 'rogue' contact as the Magic Eyes are very sensitive to this (also always make sure the RF2 out is always turned off when plugging and unplugging as the magic eyes 'blow' ridiculously easily)

According to an eBook I have
To reprogram the Sky remote to control the Sky+ box.
The sequence is:
  • TV
  • Hold Blue + select until LED falshes twice
  • 2
  • select
  • Sky
Now the Sky remote up and down channel buttons change the channels on the Sky+ box.

To revert back, enter the sequence again but press the zero button instead of "2".

I've not got Sky+ so cannot say whether it works or not.
