15yr old wants HD telly, which one.
Discussion
Been hovering for a while thought i better start posting somewhere. I have converted the garage for the son and his mates, he has all the boys toys that teenagers have these days. But lately i have been getting it in the neck from him as he now wants his telly upgraded to an HD one. He currently has a 32" lcd(non Hd) one which is about 3 yrs old.But unfortunatley he has been to a mates house and seen blu ray on a rather large sony hd telly and well it sort of has broken his neck so to speak. I don,t mind spending £500-£700 quid on him as he is rather helpful to me and has done really well in his end of term exams. He really is on telly 75% with his PS3 and the other 25% is sky +.
I am thinking about a projector for him as he has an ideal place for it and i can easily get it ceiling mounted, could some one give me some pointers on what to get.Make ,model etc and the pros and cons.thanks in advance Megansdad

have a look at the Samsungs mate, best value for money tvs on the market.
I've been an aerial and sky installer for 10 years, I see plenty of tvs every week. I have sky hd and a ps3, plus sony home cinema. After months of looking at other peoples tvs and how they perform I chose a samsung plasma over anything else as it gave the most natural looking, crt equivilent picture and was the best value.
An LG would have been my 2nd choice and Panasonic 3rd, but the picture on a panasonic looks to digitalised to me.
Look for the highest contrast ratio possible, and 1080p if you can get it but believe me, paying extra for 1080p ISNT worth it over a 1080i tv.
Best places to buy are richersounds and crampton and moore. heres some examples

Projection at that price point simply isnt worth it, you may as well go and flush £700 down the stter.
Panasonic plasma, you'll get a 42" for that budget, unlikely he needs 1080p, a 42X10 should suffice.
Is it not worth getting 1080p if he's mostly using it for the PS3?Panasonic plasma, you'll get a 42" for that budget, unlikely he needs 1080p, a 42X10 should suffice.
