Quick question for the techies.

Just had Sky HD fitted and they supplied the hdmi cable which is obviously cheap and nasty. Will spending £80 on an all singing all dancing gold plated one make much difference?

If you're just going to take a 1m HDMI cable and replace it with another 1m HDMI probably not.

3m+ manufacturing quality starts to make a difference

Digital isnt 'just digital innit mate' but on short runs TMDS takes care of most mechanical issues.

I did wonder Matt. It's only a 1m run as my 42" plasma is on a stand rather than on the wall like it was in my old gaffe. Obviously that was before I had Sky HD and I then bought 3m bloody expensive scarts to keep the quality. Have bought a £20 hdmi off the web but just wondering whether buying a £80 one will make any difference to the non HD channels?

Nope, you'd be better off putting the £60 difference towards a Bluray or beer.

Excellent. That was my gut feeling. Right, now I need to sort a decent surround sound that doesn't break the bank... scratchchin
