What is the best quality AV output.
Discussion
I have a Samsung DVD-HR720 DVD Recorder with 80GB Hard Drive.
It has S-video, SCART, Component Output as well as the the usual coax.
Like many others I have upgraded the TV recently and now have a bigger choice of inputs in the TV.
I was just wondering what the best quality or indeed what the difference is between the various output options.
A second line of thought. I also recently acquired a HD media player with 500gig drive. When I played a movie I had copied from a DVD onto the media player via the HMDI connection the the quality was noticeably better than playing it through the DVD player (via SCART).
Would watching DVD by connecting the the DVD-HR720 to the media player via S-Video or Component and then to the TV via HMDI give similar improvements.

Component.
Even better than HDMI?The colour gamut on component is larger than everything digital up to HDMI 1.3b can carry so if your HDMI is 1.3a or less than component is better.
Its only 'Deep Colour' that has elevated HDMI above Component.
Its also more reliable, easier to work with and doesnt have irritating content protection handshaking going on.
No, he is right, i too think component is much better when used in the right application, by right application i mean everyware :P I find the picture nits together better, appears less MPEGgy and the TV set dosent switch resolution 50 times beofre displaying a picture
Im used to old Analogue technology from a time where you pressed a button and something used to happen unlike today where you have to go put the kettle on evey time you breath near a remote control!
