I've bought a yamaha sound bar and replaced my old 5.1 AV and speakers. Obviously I unplugged everything, tidied up the wiring and plugged everything in again.

Every thing works fine except now when I try to record on to my HDDVD I don't get any sound?? I do get sound when it plays stuff stored or if I insert a DVD.

When I'm watching Cable TV on the DVD channel I get sound from the cable box, but not through the TV or sound bar.

I've checked and rechecked that I have plugged it in right and it all looks good. Did a "factory reset" on the telly and that did'nt help either.

Any ideas guys?

What cables are you using between each source, the soundbar and the display?

Hi thanks, I have a scart from DVD to TV, another cable box to dvd and one cable box to TV. Optic from TV to Sound bar and digital coax from dvd to sound bar.

Not all SCART leads are created equally, nor are all SCART sockets.

You want a SCART lead and a socket on the television that is capable of sending as well as recieving a signal.

OK, thing is, it was all working fine before I plugged in the sound bar. It must be some sort of tuning problem or me plugging it in wrong, though I have checked and rechecked.

I don't think it has anything to do with the sound bar as it works on stored play back.

It's pretty amazing to be honest. I wasn't too sure at first, but actually quite good. Not quite as directional as a 7.1 speaker set up, more like fills the room with sound.

Mind you I havn't spent a lot of time fine tuning it yet.
