Samsung 55" LED LCD 7 Series
Discussion
Bought a couple of tellys today.
Something for the gym room - a nice little Philips 3000 series 32" - good value and has a pretty good picture, but the biggie was going for a 55" Samsung 7 Series LED LCD unit to replace the lounge's Sony 40" V series Bravia.
It came down to this and the Sony 52" Z series Bravia (going for the same price).
I asked the shop to place them both side by side in a viewing room and change the settings to something more realsitic - the Samsung got the nod. The picture was simply more impressive watching Bluray - Wall-E and the Godfather edition (not bothered about an SD feed). The blacks were deeper and I felt that it was a more engrossing overall picture. Something that also appealed to me is the energy aspect.
Looking forward to it being delivered at the weekend. I love the fact that all you have to do nowadays is unplug the power and the single HDMI cables, remove existing telly, put up the new one and only have to plug the two cables back in and you're up and running - the AV unit looks after everything else.

just got back last nite frm meeting suppliers at a conference n wa tlkin t the samsung reps n they reckon the series 8's will be upon us sooner thn we thought n they r meant to have upgraded pretty much everything in them, cnt wait t see them bad boys in action.
gd choice goin for samsung tho, series 7 led is my fave tv at the min. and i wouldnt have a new sony given, they got serious reliability issues and the pic looks really grainy when u present them with an area of solid colour, worst with fleshy tones, almost looks like the skin is crawling

Oh dear........and after all the good advice you were given too!
How could you Asterix? How could you!?
Well, the proof was in the pudding. How could you Asterix? How could you!?
The Samsung had a better picture than the Sony in a controlled environment.
Reliability? It has a warantee - anyway, I thought Samsung supplied Sony with panels and tech?
If it turns out to be a crock then I'll be the first to swallow my pride.
