I've currently got some B&W CDM 9NT floorstanders, powered by Cyrus Pre and Power amps. They're great speakers, but, in a small flat that I currently have and pressed hard against a wall and close together they sure boom a bit and don't image very well.

Can anyone recommend some stand-mount speakers (Or even just brands), with some reasonable bass response that sound similar to the B&W's (Quite warm I think they're described as) Budget £1500 tops.

I've been directed to Spendor as a start.

I'll stick the B&W's into storage until I get a bigger place!

Thanks

Second hand Zingali Overture .1 or .2s for a non-mainstream choice that matches your needs.

I have the latter and they will sit hard against a wall if you need them to. Unfairly ignored IMHO.

You'd be far far far better off (about £1500 actually) considering room treatments before shelling out for different speakers which will probably sound just as bad.

Agreed completely; alas in a rented flat in central London I am limited in what I can do. It's got wooden floors, not much on the walls and as you rightly say is probably an acoustic disaster!

Maybe I should put up with it, and when I buy somewhere consider my options then.

Move the room around so your bookshelves etc if you have them are facing the speakers, go to Ikea, get a big rug for in front of the speakers, get heavier curtains (though this is a bit much for a rental admittedly)

That way you've got your diffusion and absorption covered to an extent.

You room is currently very 'live' you need to deaden it down a bit is all.

The man speaketh the truth.

Else, build a few traps and hang them in place of pictures, or better still, duvets in the reflection points.
