I have been with Sky almost since the beginning. They have left me with the same skanky old digibox and never once offered me an upgrade. Do you think I'll be shot down in flames if I phone them up and ask them for one ? I know what I'm like, if I phone them and they say no, I'll tell them to shove the whole system up their jacksies, and my wife would kill me.

If you have a mobile phone contract you get upgrades all the time, why should this be any different, given that they're getting nearly 50 quid a month from me.

What do you lot think ? Would the thought of them losing my 50 quid a month be leverage ?

For £50 a month you should be getting a full HD service & free BB. Phone them up, contact the 'If you are leaving us" line, tell them you want to cancel, tell them you need to save money as the Wife is out of work....Blah, Blah. Be nice and friendly rather than aggressive, tell them what a shame it is as you have been so happy with the service over the years, tell them you will be getting Freeview or Freesat instead.

I tried that, they said 'it wont be as good as sky, sorry to see you leave', you could also try the 'my digibox has died and i cant afford a new one so i have to cancel' line.

That sounds the best tactic, I'll give it a bash, thanks smile
