After some sage words from Der I have just ordered a fantastic panasonic 42 v10 thing (sounds like a german bomb).

Which will be mega, it will be more mega if we can I can get a satellite dish up and running. We live in a grade II house so no dish on the house. I have space in teh garden where I can shove one but I was not sure what to buy or how to mount it....

I was thinking of..

Thoughts from people who know would be appreciated.

Is there anything in the garden to mount it to? If not then find a suitable place in the garden that would not have a tree/hedge in lign of sight of the satellite, dig a hole, drop a pole in it and cement it it (straight and level of course) then clamp the dish to the pole, align and job done.

For a freesat tv you only need 1 LNB connection so if you think your not going to use the other 3 that are available you may find a cheaper one with a single lnb.

Sourcing a dish should be easy - it's mounting it on something suitably solid that requires the thought. If it's any distance from your house, use some decent cable too. I got mine from Satcure - who I see also do patio stands for dish mounting...

Our house is listed also but back garden faces south. As long as you can get line of sight facing south east it shouldn't be a problem. I wouldn't have thought that these days any local busy body would take ant note of a dish on a Grade 2 listed house.

I've used these a couple of times and they might be worth as look. Would definately be worth seeing one for real though, they can just look really cheap, like a few of the examples on their website
