Hi Guys,

Having a bit of a mare, ordered Sky HD package about 2 weeks ago. Already have a phone line in my house (there a dial tone), however the line was not connected. Sky said that it will be active as of tomorrow. Can't quite understand why it takes two weeks to sort this out.

I was told that I can't get broadband until I have a phoneline (makes sence). However just called Sky and to my disgust I've been told it can/ will take two week for them to switch broadband on. Is this correct or was the bloke taking the p*ss ?

Cheers

Sunil

No. That's about right.
It's usually a managed service by BT so Sky will advise BT that you want it connected and so it'll go on until a bloke gets to the BT exchange and fiddles with some wires and, voila, you have broadband.

As I understand it, the have to physically move wires around hence the delay?

Hmm wish I'd know this I would have just signed up for the BT package... I think it's better as it's got loads of one demand channels.

Also the porn sucks on Sky ... JOKE !

Shouldn't have made a blind bit of difference if you'd have gone to BT. They are under legal obligation from OFCOM to treat all connections equally, regarding timing, etc. There are a limited number that they can actually do per day.

Are you in an LLU area? You can check this on samknows.com. If your local exchange has been unbundled, I'd recommend going with a provider who has unbundled at that particular exchange. There are a number of reasons and benefits (cost being one) of using an LLU CP.
