I have about £1,500 to blow on a new 50inch TV....

Does anyone have a view on a good one at the price?

Was thinking

Panasonic TX-P50G10 50" 1080p Plasma TV at about £1,300

Thanks

I was looking at one of these, trouble as I see it is the SD broadcasts aren't that good......As I want one for Freesat is there an alternative set at 50".

Panasonic plasma is my preferred option for 50". I have one from a year and a half ago and the newer generation black levels are much better. You will not be disappointed. Even freeview looks great (unlike on LCD ones where it looks really bad).

If you're watching everything in hi-def, then traditional wisdom says plasma in light controlled environment and LCD if you cannot control the amount of lighting. But with the newer stuff, that line in being blurred.

My personal preference is to go for plasma as movies just look better on it (in my view) and that is my primary viewing.

I have a 600A, and it's the best SD image I have yet seen on any Plasma / LCD.

If you want integrated Freesat then the Panasonic plasmas or the newer LG ones are the only options.
