I know its been done to death already but would appreciate some input from the PH armchair experts.

I'm in the market for a new Tv to replace the aging CRT in my living room. To be honest its not my highest priority for spending my disposable income as I still have a new bathroom and various other bits of plumbing to pay for in my house so I was holding out for as long as possible.

However, after seeing a Comet advert my eye was drawn to two different Tvs for around £500.

No. 1 is the Panasonic P37C10B.

Pros:
- Panasonic have a reputation for quality screens
- 100Hz
- The picture quality that is associated with Plasma
-24p playback

Cons:
- 'Only' 720p
- 200W power conumption

No 2. is the LG 32LH4000

Pros:
- 1080p
- 24p playback
- Power consumption only 100W

Cons:
- LG not has highly regarded as Panasonic
- Slightly smaller screen

I'd be using the Tv for watching Sky, DVDs and I'll probably get a PS3 in the near future (I.e. by the end of the year). Viewing Distance is approx 7ft and 37 inches is as big as I can go because of where the Tv will be located.

Which would you go for and why?

Edited to add the Panasonic is Plasma and the LG LCD which will have a significant bearing on picture quality.

Thanks in advance.

For the extra, the 37X10 would be the better choice.
For the type of typical usage, now and the immediate future, Plasma makes for a better argument.

Look at the C as Tesco Value product, with the X as the brand name one - nothing overly wrong with saving some money, but if the flavour of the brand name is preferred, then it's a short-sighted choice going for the cheaper product.

Just had a look on the digital direct website and the 37X10 looks mighty impressive for an additional £30 over the C. I've been looking at the LCD's on there as well but the only advantage I can think of is lower power consumption as price-wise there's nothing in it.

I've also been keeping an eye on the what 32" LCD and the JVC LT-32DR9 is also looking very impressive especially at that price.

I'm weighing up whether to go for the Panasonic plasma or the JVC LCD and am now leaning in favour of the JVC.

Came down to a similar decission for me, but power consumption isn't that different and the extra £250 for for the 37" JVC meant I could buy a fair bit of electricity

DER's LCD of choice http://www.digitaldirect.co.uk/search-jvc+37

And now I'm back in favour of the Panasonic....
