I've posted a couple of times trying to work out one thing and another, and am now in a position to go out shopping.

The recommended TV for me was a Panasonic TX-P42G10. I had a look at one today and I'm impressed with it. I just wanted to check there were no close contenders or better plasma's for £950 before we go and buy it?

Thanks
Chris

The G10 is a great panel and comes with Freesat HD built in. Have a look at the S10 also if yo udont need Freesat

Is freesat the only difference?

No. There are other differences. Panasonic's website will tell you what they are if you can decipher it.

Sod it, gonna go for the TX-P42G10. Get paid on Friday, just hoping I can get it ordered, delivered and wall mounted before the outlaws come round next week.

Cheers.

Change of plan, ordering it tomorrow morning. Is it juvenile of me for wanting to giggle like a little boy at the prospect of getting a new toy?

Yes, very.....but no-one here will mind in the slightest, so carry on giggling.

Where from out of interest? Seen a place doing them for £910, which seems pretty reasonable.

I got John Lewis to price match against Richer Sounds. So I got the tele, delivery and a 5-year warranty for £949.

Dixons have it for £902 with a one year warranty if you use the discount code "3TV" when buying.

Very nice. Just paid £930 from 1staudiovisual.co.uk which covers 1 year warranty and next day delivery. Wish I'd shopped about abit now.

I've just got the 46" version of this set. I'm very happy with it (though not the 20 day wait for delivery)

It came with a free 3 year warranty from Digital Direct.

Had one of these for a few weeks now and very happy. Internal tuner does not pick up Channel 5 though.

Paid £1100 from House of Fraser with 5yr warranty. JL on Oxford St were too much hassle so went next door, had it in the car 10mins later and voila.

Strange, I was really impressed with the customer service at JL. I just walked in and said "Can you price match the P42G10 against Richer Sounds?" and the guy went away for five minutes then came back and said "yes what day would you like it delivered?".

Think the extra warranty would've been nice, but the TV's in now and I'm very happy with it.

I'm just in the process of getting someone out to wall mount it...if the bottom edge is approx 4-5 foot from the floor and I'm sitting 9-10 feet away on a sofa, will the viewing angle be good enough that I won't need a tilting stand?

Would you mind confirming that this TV only has 2 HDMI sockets on the back, and 1 on the side?

I was going to buy one of these but if that's how the HDMI sockets are laid out then it's a deal breaker.

Yep, 2 on the back and one on the left hand side.

Got a company called Install Express to do the installation (cheapest quote I could find,) rang them at half four last night and they were here at nine this morning. All done and sorted an hour or so later - was very impressed with them, would definately recommend them.

TV looking lovely...now its just a case of persuading the missus we should change to Virgin HD and get a blue ray player and Wii....

Mine has just turned up and is sitting in the hall way.

I'm mildly confused about the idea of getting someone to install a TV for you though? Surely you just plug it in?

One imagines he meant wallmount installation rather than 'plugging it all in'
