LCD TV MOunted on Chimney?
Discussion
Sorry, comletely disagree, I have our one mounted above fireplace, and sit 12 feet away, absolutly no problem with the height.
Note we have it on a slight angle on the bracket 'facing down', plus im a sloucher on couch, so if you bolt it flat to the wall ,own a chesterfield and sit bolt upright in your seat you may have to angle your head, however if your 'normal' (like me ) then dont worry.
Now if heat affects it could be a different matter, we are yet to buy our log burner!

As for the heat issue, the radiated heat through the chimney breast shouldnt be a problem but having the TV in the direct heat stream is, geberally i tell people that if they dont use the fireplace then it ok as long as they can cope with the height of the screen otherwise it is a bad idea.
For example i remember back in the early days we had a pana 50pw4 in for repair, it had been mounted above a log burning fireplace in an old house that had no central heating, basically the TV rusted from the inside. It must have been caused by consensation buildup on the inside of the back (metal) cab on the pana more than likely because of it being mounted directly above the fire.
That is an extremem of course but worth keeping in mind.
