I have just bought a Pioneer LX5090 in the past couple of weeks.

It now appears I may be relocating to our US offices before the end of this year. Can I take the TV with me, will it work with a power convertor or something similar?

Slightly annoying as I have also just purchased an Elise SC which I will have to sell in a few months....

Hmmm something went wrong with the thread title... can a mod please amend it to get rid of the 'e the' from the beginning? Thanks!

Most support 110v and NTSC out of the box. Just check yours does and you'll be fine.

You'll probably find the TV is able to take 110v-230v, check on the back, you will then just need a US mains lead or plug. If not you will need a transformer. I doubt it will be able to tune into any US terrestrial channels, the tuner will be for Europe, check in the tuning menu for countries.

The US TV system is NTSC we are PAL. Your plasma should be able to take NTSC signals so you can plug in Cable/Sat boxes and US DVD players etc.

The tv will display a NTSC signal.
But the tuner inside the TV will be useless as it will be a PAL analogue or freeview tuner which will not work in the USA.
AS long as you use an external tuner like a sky box here in the UK you will be fine, In the USA your best bet bet would be to subscribe to one of the many cable companies who will supply you with a tuner box this then needs connecting to your plasma.

AFAIK the US no longer has analogue telly any more, so a US freeview equivalent type box, cable or sat box will work as an input smile

Just be careful getting it over there; Plasmas do not travel well. They must be kept upright, and can't be air freighted IIRC.

Is that true? How are they transported from the factory to their global destinations if not via air freight? I am going to be keeping all boxing / packaging to aid transportation. Will keep it in mind when discussing moving my possessions with a relocation company.

Its not true.

Packing cartons suggest that they are upright to stop people sitting/siting something on the lens if they are on their side.

The old 'the gas will leak' is a load of cobblers.
