Sorry I know about this sort of technology, but what hardware can anyone recommend for me to record a voice-over onto a DVD that already has video footage / images on it?

Hopefully something other than a production studio or some very expensive editing software is available.

The completed image & voice-overs will then be popped onto the internet.

Any help gratefully received.

Simple way to do it. Get a DVD recorder, plug another DVD player into the video input. Plug a small mixer and microphone into the audio input. Press play on the DVD player and record on the DVD recorder. Talk over the DVD footage.

TBH the best option is to use a PC or better a Mac, upload the DVD and then edit using software. Most software will allow you to upload the finished product to a Web page or email.

Thanks for that cjs, I'll have a go at the former first as it probably only means I need to buy a set of additional leads and a micropohone (the mixing can wait for now till I see how it comes out)

The DVD recorders audio inputs will be line level, plugging a mic directly in may not achieve enough gain, you may need a small mixer to boost and EQ the mic. Give it a go though.

Do you want any of the original audio track? Will you be voicing over? With a mixer you could mix in the original track under your voice.

No I'll be providing voice-over to some motor racing footage so they'll need to be some of the original audio of the car/tyre noise etc. Any advice on the type of mixer I should swot up on before buying anything?

Adobe Premiere might do the job. You can down load a demo for free.

Will this method work for capturing footage from an xbox?

I've been told that if I use a USB capture card I should be able to stick the captured video into Sony Vegas and it should all be pretty easy from there?
