We're opening up our living area which will mean that we'll be sitting further away from the TV - say 15+ ft.

Our current 42" Pioneer is great, but will be a speck in the distance, I think, so I'm thinking we'll need 55" as a minimum.

Any idea how long it will take for decent quality sets to come down to sensible prices (sub c£1K or so)? No blu-ray yet, no HD, just feeding a plain old digital signal, btw.

Stuff above 50" is sold in such small numbers it will always command a premium due to the way that plasma film is fabricated.

Bite the bullet and buy a Pioneer 6090/600A now, its the best television there is or there ever has been and it wont be around forever, it wont even be around for another 6 months.

The man speaketh the truth. I was all set until Plotters and the Derestricterised one coshed me, drugged me, and generally persuaded me to look at the 60" Pioneers..... now have a 600A.... what...a.... telly....

DO it.

DO it NOW.

Can't justify something you probably spend around 15-20 hours a week watching?

Your eyes will thank you, it's so far in advance of everything else in the market its frankly not funny they're stopping production.

How long are they likely to remain around for?

Serious Q as current house refurb has assumed epic proportions and is swallowing £ like it's going out of fashion.

I'd guess they'll start to get difficult to find from around July.

The 500M/600M commercial displays are already done.

The Beplotted one has a point - okay so they may be lots of money, but how long will it last.... how good will it be... how much enjoyment will you get from it... add all that lot together and it suddenly feels like a whole lot less. Justification is the wit of fools!

I'm with Plotters on this subject. The Pioneer Kuros are so far
ahead of ANY set FROM any manufacturer that it's the only choice.

I have a 2 year old Pioneer 507XD which will outperform any LCD set
on the market today LED backlighting models included.

They really are in a class of their own, the only problem is the waiting time for
the LX series it's around 10-12 weeks and that queue is getting longer everyday

I have the unenviable task of explaining to the good lady that I need to replace
the living room set for the third time in three years!!
but it's going to happen..

Sry but i need to pee on the pioneer bonfire, i have a panny myself and have always liked the panny's, last year my dad was in the market for a plasma and he whent with all of the pioneer hype and went ahead and bought one, im not saying its bad but personally i dont like it, the only plus point i could see was that the whites were whiter than on the panny.

Nope, sounds like my wife's long lost sister - once mine was convinced, that was it and the Derestrictedmeister was sent orf to get a 600A. Awesome bit of kit, and even a smidge better than the LXs.

Hmmm... Why not?
Reason I ask is that I have one. Bought it about 9 months ago and, to me, it seems ace.
Must confess that I am not really a tv-techno-guy and the 60" plasma is in a games room and probably used 80% of the time for xbox/wii/ps3 gaming, but when used for watching stuff like the Grand Prix and the like it seems to be great.
