I want to replace the TV in our family room, 37 inches will do, 42 at most. I want a TV that can also talk with our wireless network and let me surf the Internet when I feel like it - either Picture In Picture, switching back/forth or whatever. Why is this not mainstream yet? Why should I have to squint at my iPhone or drag my laptop onto my lap?

I've seen a few models experimenting with this (Samsung/LG?), but without installing another PC can I buy a TV like product that gives me this for sensible money?

There are eee clones designed to fit on VESA mountings. Add on a wireless keyboard/mouse and the Internet becomes available as "another input" smile

The PS3 Internet isn't too bad, especially if you get a wireless kb&m. iPlayer is great and you can get play tv which turns it into a PVR.

Hmm, possible. Will look into it. I'd prefer someone made a 'proper one' though...

The ones with internet built in only have limited access, like the samsung LED TV's you can get a wifi dongle for them but looks like you only get what they want you to have, a much better idea would be to connect your laptop to it and use a wireless keyboard and mouse.

Bear in mind that even a 40" screen, at decent resolution, makes web browsing a pig at anything more than about 8 foot viewing distance.

Think what resolutiom a laptop is, the size of the display, and how close you sit to it.

They can be great for iplayer etc, but for general web browing at a decent viewing distance the screen needs to be much bigger than you would imagine.
