Right, I'm almost certain this is in the right forum

I want to quit Virgin Crappy Media and get a digital aerial installed as my TV has a freeview tuner built-in.

The install couldn't be simpler, easy access everywhere and even a cellar for going under floorboards. Anyway, I just got quoted £200 for the install, which is more expensive than reconnecting to BT and installing Sky, which is not really the point of the exercise.

So my question to all you experts in PH is - can I install an aerial in the eaves of my loft conversion rather than on the outside, I can't see why not, and then run my own cabling out of the loft without the need to climb all over the roof. I don't have any big ladders so that's pretty much impossible.

Also, where is a good place to pick up a suitable aerial

Thanks guys and girls

I see from your profile your in SW London, so the Crystal Palace transmitter is not far, you should be okay with a loft aerial, make sure you get a high gain wide band aerial. Any good electrical wholesaler will be able to supply an aerial or Wickes sell them and all the connectors and cable you need.

Thanks, I was reading somewhere about different types A - F ?? Does that mean anything? And do you think most of SW London will go through Crystal Palace?

I've been told by the guy that quoted that it's a strong signal area, so that's good news. Thanks for the tip about Wickes, I wouldn't have thought of them, I'll pop in on Sunday

Is this the right sort of thing? Doesn't say 'wide' anywhere though??

I bought mine from ariels-electricals-av on e-bay, delivered in two days , easy install and just popped in the loft. You can get the same item no 370114520428, you will probably be fine with their 48 Element one and save another few £

My son lives in Clapham. The last time we visited our grand-daughter watched CBeebies on the bedroom TV with a rabbit's ears aerial.
