Hi

I have a requirement to get sound from an ipod dock, down some cat 5, and into 2 phono inputs on a stereo.

I found this http://www.cyberselect.co.uk/range/943 but wondered if anyone had reccomendations based on something they've actually used. Budget around £200.

Thanks

I have run analogue audio down a Cat5 many times, how long is the run?

The run is about 12m. I am specifically looking for something that will allow the ipod to charge, and send audio to a pair of phono. Ideally there would be some sort of adapter to allow any device with a 3.5mm jack to work

Many companies make Baluns that allow pretty much endless transmission of analogue audio over Cat5e (and digital for that matter, but different baluns).

The Onkyo dock isnt a bad bit of kit, composite video output too which can be handy.

How are you planning to control the iPod from a remote location once its docked?

It's for a self catering holiday cottage, so will have different guests in all the time. As a result we don't plan on over complicating it by giving remote control of the docked ipod, we just need a means of getting the sound over cat5 to the back of a TV.

Then that Onkyo dock and a set of baluns would seem to be a complete and robust solution.
