Just bought a LCD HD tv for upstairs and a Humax foxsat box. Have connected the box to the existing sky dish, unfortunately the box cannot find a signal.

How do I fault find the issue here?

Would it be easier to call a technican in rather than ramdomly repalcing bits until it works.

Very unusual. Are you sure the F type cable from the dish is OK? Was there another unit connected to the dish before you put this one on?

Morning Steve,

This is the first time that I personnally have connected anything to the box. I went back outside and had another look last night. The connecter is wrapped in insulation tape, that probably wants renewing. Also the LNB is a two part moulding and has come apart slightly, not sure what's in there, but maybe some issues have arisen from water ingress? The dish is a Grundig mesh type, I am thinking that I should renew the LNB and redo the F plug at the box and go from there.

When making the plug up, what do you do with the gold foil?

Just peel the Gold foil away, it is just a screen. The only connection you need is the centre core and the braided screen.

Sorted the issue, faulty LNB. Fitted a new one this afternoon and got full coverage.

Thanks for the replies guys.
