Well my trusty Philips 32PW65/05 is in its final death throws, with alternating hours/days of either a great picture or watching everything through a pink haze, it's time to put us out of it's misery!

My credit card has just been dusted off and is awaiting the imminent thrashing of TV and separates purchases.

I have asked JLewis Liverpool for a price match with RSounds on a Panasonic TXP42X10.
I am not overly bothered by the X10 being "only" HD ready, versus the significantly more expensive G10 being 1080P. I am a fussy sod but doubt very much I would notice the difference anyway, being 10+ foot away from screen.

My slight hesitance is only thinking would the 50" X10 be worth the extra £150 outlay, and have the G10 models many more virtues over the X10's which would justify the price differences. (No need for Freesat as I have Virgin+ box for HD source)

So could any of you knowledgeable types point me in the right direction please?

How much HD viewing will you actually be doing?
10-12ft away almost mandates a 50" display for good appreciation of the extra resolution HD provides.
I don't think you'll be disappointed with the X10 model, but looking at the G10's specs, the premium is somewhat justified.
Put it this way, if you presume you'll not be changing TV for the next 3 years minimum, then the difference in price is only £8 a month over that timeframe.
Can you "sacrifice" something to claw back that £8 each month, if you need to justify it?

That's a 42" size comparison - if you opt for 50X10 vs 42G10, then the difference is only £6 ish per month.

I'd suggest a call to the chaps at www.digitaldirect.co.uk - they're more than likely able to sort you out, and top chaps too.
