My son has just moved into a flat with his girlfriend, being young all things free (or cheap) are welcome.
They have a dish on the wall, and i've given them a spare sky box i had in the loft, plugged it in and they have a couple of channels.
Is there a reciever that's legal to buy that will give them some more channels? Not looking for hundrerds of channels.
Something like you can get with free view on an ariel (they dont have an ariel as its flats).
Links to web sites or models to buy would be great as i don't have a clue when it comes to this.
Also cheaper the better.

Thought it might sound like that biggrin
But thats not what i'm after. Had a look on ebay, and are these free sat boxes just plug & play? And what are the main channels they pick up?

The cheapest Freesat box is £49.

Sky can provide a viewing card for their boxes for about £20. All it takes is a phone call.

Yes, as said get a 'freesat from sky' card, just £20 one off payment, register it to your existing sky box, job done and loads of FTA channels.

http://www.freesatfromsky.co.uk/default.aspx

This is a different service to the regular Freesat mentioned above.

I had this when I moved into a house with a pre-existing dish.

It's dreadful. You have to sit down and bin all the channels you can't get, of which there are approx one million.
