Evening,

I'm a bit new to this home cinema lark, so was hoping someone can offer some advice.

Bought the Cambridge Audio Azur 540R AV amp today to go with the new TV I bought, as well as HDMI and Optical cables to connect it all up to my PS3.

I've currently got the HDMI from the PS3 going straight to the TV (no HDMI throughput on the amp), and the optical from the PS3 to the amp.

The setup seems to work fine, providing there is sound coming from the PS3. However, when there is no sound, such as on the PS3 XMB menu, or on various menu screens on games, the amp no longer detects an optical signal and drops it (showing "UNLOCK"), until the sound resumes at which stage (after a second or so), the amp chimes back in with the digital signal.

I've tried playing around with the settings on the PS3 and the amp, but i'm not sure if I'm missing anything... ??

Additionally, there does not seem to be much bass when playing PS3 games, though it seems normal when watching DVD/BD through the PS3, or using other sources - is this normal?

I realise there must be a million and one permutations of home cinema setups, and all of their associated glitches, but would appreciate any advice anyone has.

Many thanks.
