Sony cameras - should I buy a Sony TV?

Hi,
I am a complete numpty at this sort of thing. I bought a Sony digital camera and have a Sony HD camcorder. We are just about to buy an LCD TV and I had planned to get a Sony because I assume that the 2 cameras will be immediately compatible with a Sony TV. But is this really necessary? I assume that the connectors on TVs are all the same and so will a JVC or Panasonic work just as well with my Sony gear?
