B&W Zeppelin - Best Price
Discussion
As I understand it, it is very difficult to get discounts on B&W stuff, B&W don't like it.
There are even tales of undercover B&W staff asking for discounts, and stores which oblige having trouble getting further B&W stock.
Not sure how true that is though as it was posted on the internet

I can assure you its very normal practice even on their high end lines. We've just won a contract in the face of someone absolutely kicking the st out of their flagship cinema speaker line.
The reality is manufacturers are very strictly prohibited from even mentioning selling price with dealers. The penalties for manufacturers are very very severe if they're caught doing it.
Thanks for the replies chaps - I suppose I shouldn't really be surprised at what I am reading between the lines. Looks like I'll have to stump up the readies. The B&W was much better than the Bose SoundDock II that I tested it against - should be at twice the money though...

i have one and it's fantastic couldnt get a discount either, but if you want top quality for not too much more, get the meridien box that plays cd's and lets you hook up ipod about £600 but small chance with these of a discount and some B&W 601's or similar should run to about £800 but a lot better and the opportunity to play cd's. if your intersted i'll try to find the correct model for you.

Thanks but the Meridian setup is too dear plus I am looking for a single-box single-cable solution to use with iPod and my PS2 in the toy room. Optical input on Zep is perfect for this.kazste said:
fair dues like i said it's a fantastic bit of kit the zep, i went from can i justify the cash as its just for the gym to buying another the next week for the garage.
Ha...! Excellent...! I have got a Logitech 2.1 setup in my garage which is surprisingly good. X-230 I think. All of about £30 worth. (Honestly - it's bloody brilliant). I just hate wires in the toy room as there's little place to hide them.Gassing Station | Home Cinema & Hi-Fi | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
