Iv'e got quite a few vinyls that ive bought over the years and id actually fancie playing some of them

and yes i do know it is 2009 of the 21st century!

Iv'e seen the ones you can transfer to your pc via usb but im debating whether theyre actually any good?

Ideas anyone?

I'm sure the direct USB jobbies from Maplin etc will be fairly dire quality.

In the past I've digitised records from a 'normal' turntable using an output from the amp into the soundcard of my PC, and hitting 'record' in Soundforge, but it took some fiddling about and I can't remember exactly how I did it.

ION unit seems to be fairly well reviewed. Always wondered if its actually cheaper just to buy the CD for those you really want to listen to. Most decks are around £200.00 [ the copying variety] so if youre paying a fiver for the CD then you could potentially get 40 !

Depends on how far you want to go. Project do some very good low end decks from £150 with a USB deck at £300-ish. That would be my route if I wanted to store the vinyl on disk. Going on the Rock 7 at about £1000 is a superb high end starter.

^^^^^^ Wot he said. I started to digitise my vinyl a couple of years ago and eventually got bored witless buggering about with it all.
