I need some advice on a SKY eye issue I have. My house is pre-wired with coax cable for TV use and I have a SKY+ box that works fine in the lounge and a standard digibox that works fine in one of the spare bedrooms. I have put a TV on the wall in the kitchen and am utilising the installed coax cable to transmit a signal from the standard digibox to the new TV. The picture quality was rubbish so I installed a signal booster (Philex SLX 1P) just after the RF output and the picture in the kitchen in now fine. However, I can’t get the SKY eye to work. The red LED is not lighting at the kitchen coax end but does light when connected to back of digibox. I have tried the signal booster with and without the RF2 Output 9v function switched on and from the RF1 output but to no avail. I am not sure how long the cable is from the booster to the TV in the kitchen but would guess at 10m or so, possibly a little longer.

Am I missing something that is not obvious to me or do I need to change the signal booster for a specific type (are there ones that provide 9v boost and signal allowing eye to work?), move the booster position to the kitchen and/or buy another piece of kit, a specific SKY eye etc that will allow the remote function to work from the kitchen.

Cheers in advance.

The booster isnt passing the power to power the sky eye.

You need a booster that is compatible with the power signal on the coax.

Its fairly unusual for you to have a poor quality signal on a direct connection internally, are you sure that the coax is terminated correctly at both ends and that there is no short between the shield and the conductor?

Cheers for the hints PL just managed to fix the problem. The signal booster didn't have the bypass function I needed so I now have one that does. I also found an ariel socket that didn't have the correct insulation so took it out of the loop with an F connector set up. Picture and SKY eye now working perfectly.
