New TV, But Which one??
Discussion
Good evening all,
can you please help me to choose a new TV.
Criteria:
I am going to be using it for Sky+HD and for my PS3,
Must be 42'',
Piano Black Finish,
Good Sound quality as i wont be using anything else for sound,
£600-£850!!
Other than that i am open to whatever, LCD or Plasma
Most people recommend Plasma.
I have looked at the Panasonic Plasma TH-42PX80B and the LG 42PG3000
Do i need 1080P for the PS3 and Sky??
Many thanks
Ed

I've just bought the Panasonic TH42PZ85B plasma following good reviews and a thumbs-up on this forum. Very pleased with it...can't fault it so far. Paid about £860 from Richer Sounds.
Not sure how it stacks up against the opposition for sound as I treated myself to an amp and speakers at the same time.

Another vote for the Panasonic here. I have the 42PZ80 (1080p) linked to Sky HD and PS3. Very good picture performance.
You should be able to get a 1080p Panasonic set for your budget, not that 1080p is the be all and end all on a 42" set.
However I was watching a Pioneer set at the weekend........very special but next price level up.

Panasonic Plasma TH-42PX80B - John lewis - £783
I know you get 5 years cover with JL but isn't that a bit on the expensive side? Were they not £599ish in Comet/ Currys before Christmas?
I got the 37PX80B in the summer for £559 from Comet or Currys and I'm sure just before Christmas you could get the 42" version for just a tad more.
EDIT: or did you mean the 42PZ80B?
