I bought a 42” Samsung plasma. Was all good for a couple of weeks and then started to get thin, black horizontal lines on the screen. This eventually progressed to half the screen blacking out then the whole screen. Oh and previous to the lines the colour went funny, darker or looked like the colour was turned right up.

I put in a DVD and it was ok for a while then the colour went funny then lines and then blank. I turned the amp of and used the TV’s speakers and still the same. So figured it was the telly.

Richer sounds picked it up to fix and lent me a 32” LG LCD. This too was fine for a while then the same thing happened. I thought maybe it was my Wi-Fi messing with the signal, so unplugged that. No difference.

So it must be my Virgin box? Was watching the TV and it went funny again, so I got a ‘rabbit ear’ aerial I had kicking about and plugged that in to see if it was the box and everything was fine. Including all the cable channels?

So now I’m stuck with a dodgy looking aerial in front of the telly. Has anyone got any idea of what the problem could be and how to solve it other than keep the rabbit ears?

Thanks

cjs

That's a strange one. Obviously the TV needs to see an RF signal or it starts playing up. Not seen this before TBH. Has the Virgin box got an RF out? If so plug this in the aerial input on the TV maybe? If not get yourself a decent outside aerial installed, you'll get the freeview working then as a bonus.
