Advice required SkyHD, PS3, home cinema connectivity issues.

last weekend I added a PS3 to our TV/Home cinema system.Since incorporating it strange inexplicable things appear to have happened. I'll try and make this as clear and simple as possible!
Before PS3: DVD recorder connected to TV via HDMI cable.
DVD recorder connected to home cinema amp via optical cable.
Xbox 360 audio connected to home cinema cable via optical cable.
With this we received audio by means of the home cinema system from the SkyHD box, the DVD recorder and the Xbox360.
After PS3: Removed Xbox360 optical connection to home cinema and connected PS3 in its place.
Disconnected DVD recorder HDMI connection to TV and replaced with SCART.
Connected PS3 to TV by HDMI.
Connected DVD recorder to TV with SCART.
Now no sound from SkyHD box via home cinema. So, connected Sky HD box to home cinema via optical cable in place of DVD recorder.
Prior to the above we used to get SkyHD audio through the Home cinema without a direct audio connection. I don't understand why we don't still get it as the only connections I have changed are the HDMI from DVD to TV and the optical Xbox360 connection has been replaced by the PS3.
Also, I don't seem to be receiving a signal from the Sky box to the DVD recorder - we did before and neither appear to be directly connected!
Am I missing something obvious here??!!
