Theoretically a simple request: freeview DVD recorder for a hundred quid or less.

But... if I want a reputable brand (Panasonic, Toshiba, Sony) then I've either got to increase my meagre budget or take a chance on some graded toss off fleabay.

Are any of the oddball/cheapo makes (e.g. Logik, Wharfedale, LG, Samsung) worth a punt? Some of the Samsung stuff is temptingly cheap but I've had nothing but grief from Samsung phones and audio gear. For 4 years I've owned a laughably crap Turkish-built (well, more thrown together than "built") Freeview box which sports the once-great Wharfedale badge. LG = Goldstar which used to be synonymous with sh*te. And I've never even heard of Logik.

Been looking at Panasonic's DMR-EZ28 (or the older EZ27) and Toshiba's DR18DT as the expensive branded possibilities, but can't decide if it's worth the extra £££ over the equivalent supermarket own-brand tat.

Any suggestions or recommendations? Are there any models/brands I should avoid like a case of galloping knobrot?

Cheers!
Jonny

Ive given up flogging Samsung recorders as , like you , they gave nothing but grief. Do still sell the tellies however! Our biggest seller is the 768 from Panasonic but expect to pay around £200.00 or go for a Humax 9200
