Just replaced my sky+ box with HD, no other changes to system, and I get a horrible static noise coming through with changing channels, selecting programme, etc. It's intermittent. Anyone else experience this?

How have you got your audio connected and amplified?

HDMI to the TV or optical out to a decoder?

Optical to a DAC.

I had the same issue - I messed around with the Dolby Digital and that solved it - I keep meaning to go back into the system and play with the settings but havent't managed it yet. Works fine for now - but it does mean that my Onkyo isn't quite receiving the sound it should smile

What is the DAC defaulting to accept?

It sounds like the split second of noise is how long it takes to adjust to the digital signal as oppose to what it is expecting.

Maybe in the settings turn the Optical setting to Normal as oppose to DD? Try that.

Do you get DD to work OK with your Onkyo?

A few years back Sky changed their DD format to one in which a lot of amps including mine by Integra Research - the high end arm of Onkyo worked, but with random sound dropouts for a second or so.

It's still not fixed...

Yesit works fine, the Onkyo happily accepts the signal and lights up according withe the DD logo. Unfortunately the momentary "buzz" of static gets annoying, so DD is switched off for now. I'll need to play around with the setting some more I guess smile
